Let’s start with the obvious. What is a makeup class?

It’s a private one-on-one with the consultant that’s completely customized to you. Think of it as an instructional class. This is your chance to get all your questions answered, personalized advice and leave with a fresh, new look. Your consultant will apply your makeup of course, but they’ll also teach you how to use the products and explain what works best for you and why. We can pick out all the best products for you, but if you don’t know how to use them when you get home, what’s the point?

How should I prepare for my appointment?

You should arrive with a clean face and armed with questions! Spend some time thinking about the things you need help with and what your ultimate goal is. If you already know you only want three products in your makeup routine, come prepared to let your consultant know that. If you already have your everyday routine down, but want to learn how to transform it to a going out look, let them know! If your main concern is your skin, let your consultant know that you want to focus on skincare advice and foundation and concealer recommendations. This experience is completely customized to you, so we need to know what your goals are.

Can I bring products I already have so you can teach me how to use them?

Sure! Say you have a cream blush at home but you NEVER use it because you don’t know how. Bring it in and your consultant will teach you.

How does scheduling work and how much does it cost?

You can book online at our website shopshimmerbeauty.com or call the shop at 774.206.6638. Appointments are scheduled by the hour. Rates depend on the service that you book and can range from approximately $85 - $115. Groups can also be accommodated at a discounted rate.

How do group consultations work?

We can accommodate groups in two different ways. If you have a group that wants makeup application for everyone, we can accommodate 3-7 people and will work with the host to determine their specific wants. If you have a group that is interested in a private shopping party with a makeup artist available but not application for each guest, we can also build a plan around that.

Should I tip my consultant?

Most people treat tipping their consultant the same way they would their hair stylist. Your kindness is certainly greatly appreciated!

Can I gift a cosmetic consultation?

You sure can! The easiest way to gift someone a consultation is to purchase a gift card for the service amount. You can do this either online or in-store.
