The Future of Shimmer is Very Uncertain

Shimmer has always been my dream. I've built the place I have always wanted to see in my community. But the reality is that business has declined dramatically, particularly this year, and I have to be honest about what that means.

I don't know if this is sustainable anymore.

"If you made it through COVID, you can make it through anything!"

No. This is way worse than COVID. After years of supply chain issues, rising costs, tariffs and countless other issues, now we are dealing with major construction in every direction. The Keystone building is being developed while the William Street, County Street, and I-195 projects are all happening at the same time.

Behind the scenes, I have reached out to everyone I could think of. There is no help coming. I am still looking for solutions, but it's time to be honest about reality. 

"I'm so glad you're doing so well!"

People say this to me all the time. Instagram is a highlight reel. No one is posting the hard days. Businesses are closing all the time, yet people continue to be surprised when it happens..

I have deliberately stayed quiet about this because I never wanted to burden the people who have gotten Shimmer this far.

I am so grateful to so many to you.

I am not announcing that Shimmer is closing.

I am saying that, for the first time, I genuinely don't know how much longer I can continue in this direction.

Shimmer is my dream. I am still fighting for it. But I also need to be honest about where we are.
